This tastey whiskey treat is thought to be the first mixed drink ever concocted in the United States. It’s also the drink served at the now infamous Over-the-Hill Jazz Funeral in Entry-Level.
Pack an Old-Fashioned glass with ice.
In a second Old-Fashioned glass add a dash of Peychaud’s bitters and a sugar cube. Crush the sugar cube.
Add a generous shot of Sazerac Rye Whiskey to the second glass containing the Peychaud’s Bitters and sugar.
Empty the ice from the first glass and coat the glass with the Herbsaint, then discard the remaining Herbsaint (or drip it into your mouth!).
Empty the whiskey/bitters/sugar mixture from the second glass into the first glass and garnish with lemon peel.
Take your cocktail to a jazz funeral and enjoy
If you have not been invited to a jazz funeral lately, stage your own. They're lots of fun.
